Archaeological museum Hisarya



In 1933, a group of locals created an archaeological society, aiming to collect, protect and popularize the rich archeological heritage of Hisarya and its region. Elected Resident General Todor Markov – a resident of Hisarya. In his villa he created a personal museum collection, which in 1953 became a state museum. Since 1960 the museum has been housed in its current building. The building of the museum is reconstructed residential building by 40s of the 20th century for the needs of the museum. In 1979 it was in the same style. A new building was built and the museum was extended to the south. Now he has it U-shaped with an exposition yard and a lapidarium. The museum has an archaeological profile. His exposure reflects the millennial material and spiritual culture in Hisarya and its region of The New Stone Age (V millennium BC) until the Renaissance.
