The Municipal Historical Museum in Ivaylovgrad was officially opened on 30.06.2009. Three expositions – “Archeology”, “History of the city and area before the Liberation” and “History after 1878” are housed in the newly opened Historical Museum building. In the museum visitors can see ceramics from Villa Armira, coins, parts of a Thracian funeral chariot and the excavations of the mound near the village of Sviraci, artefacts from the Lyutitsa fortress. Apart from archaeological finds, there are guns and pistols from the Russo-Turkish Liberation War, icons and archival documents related to the life and work of voivods Yani Popov and Stambol Dimitrov. Local residents donated part of the exhibits. The painter Emanuil Manolov has artistically shaped the showcases in the museum.
