Pernik Region
Pernik region is located in Western Bulgaria and includes the Pernik, Radomir and Breznitsa fields, parts of the mountains Verila, Vitosha, Lyulin and others. The area is extremely rich in mineral resources. There are rich deposits of coal, ores, clays and limestone, which determine the development of the industry and makes it a major economic sector. Preserved scenery and historical sights attract thousands of visitors every year to the area. The proximity to Sofia and the direct transport links makes it particularly popular for both tourism and business activities.

The Gorge of Erma River
The picturesque gorge of Erma River (Tran Gorge) is one of the most attractive landmarks in this part of the country. The gorge is about 100 meters long, and about 5 meters wide in its narrowest part. A special eco path was made for the curious tourists and nature lovers. It starts at the south end of the canyon.
