Ruse Region

The Ruse region extends over parts of the Danube Plain and Ludogorie. The region is an important transport center, due to the fact that the Danube flows into the Black Sea. Ruse is important river port and its bridge connects Bulgaria and Romania.
In the 19th century Rousse was the gateway to the European cultural influence on the Bulgarian lands. The region played a key role during the Bulgarian Revival and Liberation. The Romans and Thracians lived in these lands beforehand and left deep traces with their cultural heritage.
