Smolyan Region
Smolyan Region is located in southern Bulgaria on the border with Greece, covering the eastern part of the Rhodope Mountains. The nature and relief of the area are suitable for winter and summer tourism. A large part of the settlements and their occupants are related to tourist activity. The region boasts its own cuisine, songs and hospitality, and the Rhodopes were considered a sacred place by the Thracians. Numerous rivers and lakes make it ideal for fishing as well.

The Smolyan Regional Historical Museum
The Smolyan Regional Historical Museum was founded in 1935 by the community leader Stoyu Nedelchev Nikolov (1865-1937) – a famous folklorist, ethnographer, and author of many essays on the daily life, traditions, and culture of the Rhodope region. Today the museum, which bears his name, is the largest museum in the Central Rhodopes.
Chudnite Mostove (The Wonderful Bridges)
Chudnite Mostove (The Wonderful Bridges) is a rock phenomenon also known as the Skalnite Mostove (The Rock Bridges). It is situated in the karst valley of the river Erkyupriya in the West Rhodope mountain on 1450 above the sea level. In the past the bridges had been one entire cave.
