Yambol Region
Yambol region is located in the southeastern part of Bulgaria. The relief is flat and semi-mountainous. It is rich in water resources and has several reserves and protected areas.
Over 200 ancient settlements and 900 tombs from Thracian times are located along the Tundja River and its tributaries. There are many prehistoric tombs in the Sakar Mountains, built of huge stone blocks. The most famous Thracian site is the Thracian town of Kabile, but there are also over 30 strongholds from the Antiquity, Middle Ages and the Liberation of Bulgaria, which also attract tourists’ interest.

Historical Museum Yambol
The Yambol Historical Museum is housed in a two-storey building in the centre of town. It was established in 1952 as a natural successor of local scientific and archaeological societies. Today the museum’s collection numbers approximately 93,000 exhibits, some of which of great artistic and historical value.
