Burgas Region

Burgas region is located in southeastern Bulgaria and is the second largest region after Sofia. In the area wine production is well developed, as evidenced by the large quantities of wine produced for export. The Black Sea and the thermal mineral springs make the area attractive for balneological and sea tourism. Pomorie, Nessebar, Sunny Beach, Sozopol, Primorsko, Tsarevo and Ahtopol are the main holiday villages and resorts that attract tourists. At the same time, the Longong riparian forests, the Strandja Mountain and the Sakar Mountains, as well as the natural reserves are a prerequisite for the development of eco and hunting tourism.
The cultural richness of the area is well known. Old Nessebar is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Thracian mounds, Greek cities and medieval fortresses have left their prints and remains in the region. Preserved till nowadays is the nestinarstvo – dancing on live coals that are performed during the holiday of St. St. Constantine and Elena.
